Cambrils, in the Costa Dourada is a favorite summer destination for families and couples looking for a quiet escape. Unlike its neighboring counterpart, Salou, which draws an influx of lively and often rowdy young visitors from abroad, Cambrils beaches exude a familial charm that resonates with both Spanish locals and international travelers alike.

Cambrils Beaches
1. Cap de Sant Pere
This is the first beach I encountered in Cambrils when coming south from Salou. It’s no wonder, then, that it’s one of the most crowded beaches in summer. It marks the boundary between the two towns.
It extends for almost 1 km and is about 15 m wide, with clear waters and thin golden sand. Along the beach runs a promenade and a bicycle lane.
This semi-urban beach is fully equipped with everything needed to spend the day, such as showers, lifeguards, and rentals of hammocks. There is a chiringuito (beach bar), and along the promenades, there is a wide choice of restaurants.
People with reduced mobility can enter the beach through walkways in the sand.
There is a Nautical School for those who want to practice water sports.
Parking facilities are available, but pets are not allowed.
2. Vilafortuny
This beach is named after the residential area next to it, so you will find many locals here. The excellence of Vilafortuny beach has been awarded with a 2023 Blue Flag Certification.
With the very good quality of the water, it extends for 1.5 km and is around 70 m wide. I found the sand a bit rough, and I was told it is because local authorities often fill it with quarry sand before summer.
It is a very welcoming beach with access walkways and an amphibious chair for assisted baths for people with restricted mobility. There are parking facilities.
Young children have fun at Vilafortuny beach. For them, there are volleyball grounds and a kids’ playground with springboards.
Not far from the beach, there is a medieval 12th-century castle. Although it cannot be visited, it’s worth looking at from the outside. At present, it serves as a place to celebrate special events such as weddings and birthdays.
3. L’ Esquirol
This semi-urban beach is the next one after Vilafortuny, in the direction of Cambrils, and does not become as crowded as the other two beaches which follow. I would highly recommend it for families with kids since it offers some amusement attractions and playgrounds.
L’ Esquirol has fine sand, good quality water, and extends for about a kilometer.
Water sports fans will enjoy WindCambrils, the sailing school where they can find an ample offer of water activities, as well as a place with good food.
In general, El Esquirol is a very nice and recommended beach in Cambrils. It is fully equipped and also has beach bars and facilities for people with reduced mobility.
4. El Cavet
This is one of the four Cambrils beaches that received a 2023 Blue Flag Certification.
El Cavet is about 600 m long and 20 m wide. It’s a sandy beach, although with a rocky seabed. It’s ideal for lovers of water sports. Paddle surfing, snorkeling, and surfboards can be rented here.
A nice feature of this beach is the shaded space provided by a pine forest, suitable for relaxing and enjoying a picnic.
The beach is well-equipped with parasols, sun loungers for rental, and lifeguards.
5. Regueral
Beach d’En Fores i Regueral is an urban beach popularly known simply as Regueral. It is the biggest in Cambrils and situated in the middle of the city. With about 1.2 km in length and 70 m wide, and crystal-clear waters, it offers the perfect setting for a great day at the beach.
Regueral beach is fully equipped with everything needed to ensure a fun and safe day at the beach. There are several volleyball and football grounds, as well as a center for renting water sports equipment.
There are also walkways and amphibious chairs for people with reduced mobility. In general, Regueral’s proof of excellence in service is the 2023 Blue Flag Certification it has received.
The beach runs along the sea promenade where there are plenty of restaurants, bars, famous ice cream shops, as well as a wide assortment of souvenir shops and boutiques.
Next to the beach, I found the Nautical Club and a picturesque view of yachts, different boats, and catamarans ready to take visitors on a sea excursion.
6. La Riera
This small piece of beach, with harsh sand and rocks and about 200 m long, is a beach in Cambrils which has also been adapted for pets.
My intention in writing this blog is to give a personal, honest opinion of Cambrils beaches. La Riera appears in any list of beaches in this town. However, I would not recommend it at all. At least as of September 2023, it was not clean enough, not even for pets.
In front of the beach and along it, you will find the sign of Cambrils, a basketball court, and a round square where, in the summer, a group of ladies receives dancing lessons in the evenings. It’s also a stop for the touristic train in summer. You can buy the tickets at the Touristic Center just in front of the beach.
7. Horta de Santa Maria
After La Riera, this small 400 m long beach is the next one. It’ s about 15 m wide, with sand and rocks. The water is calm since there are breakwaters to protect from the waves. Generally, it’s not as crowded as other beaches.
This beach is fully equipped. There are rentals for sun loungers, volleyball grounds, and access ramps for people with reduced mobility.
8. La Llosa
After Horta de Santa Maria comes La Llosa, one of the four beaches awarded the 2023 Blue Flag Certification, together with Cavet, Vilafortuny, and Regueral.
This is indeed a beautiful and clean beach with a nice environment. Several breakwaters protect the beach, forming shallow waters and little coves ideal for the practice of snorkeling.
In front, there are good restaurants, and the promenade is lovely with benches to rest after a walk or to sit and admire the beautiful sunsets.
9. El Dorado
Following La Llosa, we arrive at an almost 1 km long sandy beach which takes its name from the urbanization in front, El Dorado.
This beautiful and welcoming beach, in the shape of a crescent, attracts locals and tourists alike. The area has grown in recent years with a big offer of beach apartments for rent in front of the promenade. The Hotel Estival El Dorado is also a very nice family hotel resort facing the beach.
El Dorado beach is equipped with rentals for parasols, a kids’ playground, a volleyball court, lifeguards, and there are two beach bars.
10. L’ Ardiaca
It’s the last of Cambrils beaches in the direction to the south. It takes its name from the nearby urbanization L’Ardiaca. The beach extends for 1.7 km and is around 30 m wide.
Stone breakwaters form little coves, protecting the beach from the waves. The result is shallow and calm waters, making it an ideal beach for families with children.
It’s fully equipped with rental services for hammocks and parasols, sports and kids areas, lifeguards, and access for people with mobility problems.

Hotel Rovira offers an excellent location right off Regueral Beach. Most of the rooms have a balcony with sea views. The rooms are soundproof, and connected rooms are available upon request. The hotel is very popular with tourists who come back again and again. It features an excellent restaurant specialized in Mediterranean seafood dishes. Additionally, there is an outdoor swimming pool and a bar with a covered terrace.
