Where is Camp de Mar Beach
The beach of Camp de Mar stretches in front of the urbanization of the same name. It is located to the southwest of Mallorca, just an 8-minute drive from the small city of Andratx.
The landscape surrounding the urbanization is quite mountainous and abundant in vegetation.
How to Get to Camp de Mar Beach
By Car:
To reach Camp de Mar Beach from Palma (26.7 km), it takes about 28 minutes by car via the Ma-1 road. Just before reaching Andratx, you’ll find a detour on your left that provides access to the urbanization where Camp de Mar Beach is located.
To reach Camp de Mar Beach from Andratx (4.2 km), it takes 7 minutes by car via the Ma-1 road.
By Bus:
Buses depart every hour from Plaça Progrés in Palma. Some buses reach the destination directly in 23 minutes, while others require a transfer, extending the trip to up to 45 minutes.
From Andratx, you can take bus line 122, which will get you there in 4 minutes. Alternatively, a taxi ride might cost you around 10 Euros.
How is Camp de Mar Beach
As mentioned before, I discovered Camp de Mar for its sophisticated ambiance. While there aren’t many high-rise buildings, the area is adorned with upscale hotels.
For years, Camp de Mar has attracted affluent individuals, including celebrities and movie stars like Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas. Additionally, a significant number of German tourists have chosen Camp de Mar as their summer holiday destination.
During the 90s, Claudia Schiffer, a renowned German model, bought a house in Camp de Mar Beach. Her summer stays significantly contributed to the heightened popularity of the area.
Michael Douglas owns a magnificent mansion named ‘s’Esteca,’ where he often spends summers with his family. Surrounded by vineyards, this mansion has also served as a setting for several films.
Camp de Mar Beach boasts a clean, sandy, U-shaped shoreline that stretches 150 meters in length and spans 80 meters in width. The view of the turquoise waters is breathtakingly beautiful.
This beach is especially well-suited for families with young children, thanks to its gentle waves, wind-protected location, and gradually deepening seabed.
An offshore rocky island hosts a charming restaurant called ‘Illeta,’ connected to the beach by a wooden plank bridge. When seen from the mainland, the restaurant creates the illusion of floating on the sea.
The same wooden bridge serves as the embarkation point for boats to Sa Dragonera island during the high season.
Please note that the beach can become quite crowded during the summer months.
Services:
Camp de Mar Beach boasts outstanding infrastructure with convenient on-site amenities such as showers and restrooms.
Throughout the peak season, lifeguards ensure your safety from 10:00 in the morning until 18:00 in the evening. Additionally, umbrellas and sunbeds are available for rent.
Please note that pets are allowed on the beach only from November 1st to April 30th.
Access:
Free parking is conveniently available within a distance of less than 300 meters from the beach. Moreover, the beach provides barrier-free access to ensure easy passage for wheelchair users.
If you’re arriving by boat, it’s recommended to anchor next to the islet where the sandy bottom maintains a depth between 4 and 5 meters.

Andratx also serves as the starting point for a road trip along the Sierra de Tramuntana.
Exploring the narrow cobbled streets of the old town is a must. Don’t miss the chance to stroll past historical buildings, including the Town Hall and the Curia Building.
The Church of Santa Maria houses a magnificent organ, measuring 15 meters in height and 9 meters in width, dating back to the early 18th century. Every week, the church hosts an organ concert that showcases its musical splendor.
4. Visit the Port of Andratx
Originally a fishing village, the port of Andratx has transformed into one of Mallorca’s premier tourist hubs. Visitors from around the world gather at this port, creating a diverse blend of cultures. The cosmopolitan ambiance is notably enriched by a significant number of German tourists.
The marina of Port Andratx is home to a sailing club, and it boasts approximately 500 moorings occupied by both sport and leisure vessels.
As one of Mallorca’s upscale tourist destinations, Port Andratx offers a plethora of first-class dining establishments, shops, and a vibrant nightlife for you to indulge in.
5. Discover Sant Elm (San Telmo)
Sant Elm is situated 12 km north of Camp de Mar. Like Camp de Mar, it was once a fishing village, and this cozy urbanization now mainly consists of residential and summer houses.
While in Sant Elm, you can indulge in delicious lobsters and squids for lunch or dinner at one of the fine restaurants along the waterfront. As you dine, you’ll be treated to a stunning view of the nearby Dragonera Island.
And if you would like to go for a swim, note that the sandy beach of Sant Elm is clean, beautiful and equipped with every service.
Among the many highlights of Sant Elm, one of the best experiences is joining a thrilling kayak adventure. This excursion offers you the opportunity to swim and snorkel as you explore the picturesque coastline. The group will paddle to Cala en Tió, a hidden gem of a bay framed by tall cliffs, and then continue on to explore enchanting sea caves.

Stretching over 500 meters in length and 100 meters in width, the beach is fully equipped to cater to your needs. The clean and calm waters make it an ideal destination for family holidays.
One of the most amazing experiences available in Santa Ponsa is going dolphin watching aboard a catamaran with underwater vision. You will become acquainted with the southwest coast of Mallorca and its beautiful coves, where you will stop to swim and snorkel.
