What to do in Cambrils
1. Enjoy the Beaches
Cambrils beaches are some of the most beautiful in the Costa Dorada. These are wide and spacious, with soft sand and crystal-clear water that’s perfect for swimming and water sports.
You can choose among Playa Esquirol, Vilafortuny, Regueral, Cap de Sant Pere but I personally recommend La Llosa, a nice and quiet beach.
2. Stroll Cambrils’ Seafront
This animated promenade runs parallel to the town’s beaches and offers a plethora of activities for all ages.
For me, it was the perfect spot to take a leisurely stroll in Cambrils, breathing in the fresh sea air, or rent a bike and explore at my own pace.
Between modern buildings you will find the Port’s Tower, a medieval watchtower that once safeguarded the town from pirates.
Along the way, there are plenty of cafes, restaurants, shops, and beautiful sculptures. These artworks depict the traditional marine life of the city.
In the evenings the seafront comes alive with music and entertainment. To walk along the promenade enjoying the sea view is indeed one of the best things to do in Cambrils. And let’s not forget the sunsets. They are breathtakingly beautiful!
3. Sailing in Cambrils
One of the best things to do in Cambrils is to take a sailing trip. There is a variety of options to choose from, ranging from relaxing catamaran cruises to thrilling speedboat adventures:
Costa Daurada Catamaran Cruise: A 3 to 5-hour comfortable sailing trip along the coast, where you can enjoy stunning views of the sea and coastline. The catamaran will anchor in a calm location between Cap Salou, La Pineda, or Montroig, giving you the opportunity to bathe in the crystal clear waters or practice snorkeling. Delicious snacks and beverages, including soft drinks, beer, sangria, and cava, are included on board.
Costa Daurada Sunset Catamaran Cruise: A 2-hour journey takes you past stunning landscapes, secluded beaches, and fishing villages before stopping at a quiet spot for swimming and snorkeling. As you sail back to Cambrils, you can enjoy complimentary drinks including beer, sangria, soft drinks, and water while soaking in the atmosphere with chillout music.
Ultimate Speedboat Experience: A 2-hour thrilling ride on the fastest speedboat on the Costa Dorada, where you can jump waves, tear around the sea, and do speedboat spins. You’ll also have the chance to swim and snorkel in the Mediterranean Sea, all while enjoying an ice-cold beverage with your fellow thrill-seekers.
Luxury Private Yacht Experience: Up to nine crew members plus a skipper, enjoy the best views of Costa Daurada on board the Ademar. Bring your favorite food and drinks or visit a nearby port to enjoy the best local seafood while exploring and enjoying the gorgeous Costa Daurada with your friends and family. This is the perfect way to experience paradise on earth and escape your day-to-day problems.
4. Enjoy Water-Based Sports and Activities
With its location on the Mediterranean, Cambrils is the perfect place to try out a range of sea sports. From kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding to windsurfing and kitesurfing, there’s something for everyone. The town has several water sports centers where you can rent equipment or take lessons, including Cambrils Park Resort and Cambrils Nautic Center.
5. Take a Wine Tasting Tour
Cambrils is also a gateway to a stunning wine region and natural landscape. The area has well-known designations of origin, such as DOQ Priorat, Montsant, Conca de Barberà, Tarragona, Terra Alta, Catalunya, and D.O. Cava.
One of the best ways to experience wine tasting is by taking a tour that will take you to the best vineyards and cellars.
Book this Highly Rated Wine-Cellar and Wine Tasting Tour to experience the best wines of Priorat. You will enjoy a scenic journey through the mountains, visit the cellars of Cornudella for a guided wine tasting, followed by a relaxing break in the legendary village of Siurana.
Another option, is to take this Bike Tour with Wineyard Visit and WineTasting. Experience the beauty of rural Catalonia with a leisurely bike ride through the beautiful Montsant region. Sample two award-winning wines at a family-run vineyard and learn about the local winemaking process.
6. Visit the Old Town
As someone who has strolled through Cambrils’ historical town, I can attest to its undeniable charm. The old town is steeped in history with its narrow streets, small plazas, and beautiful buildings.
Another highlight is the Church of Santa Maria, a 18th-century edifice, a baroque style construction.
7. Go Shopping
The weekly Cambrils market on Wednesday mornings is a must-visit, with dozens of stalls selling everything from fresh produce to clothing and souvenirs. You will find it on Passeig d’Albert, along the Old Town.
A certain number of boutiques, shoe stores and souvenir shops extend along the promenade in front of the port.
If you are staying in Cambrils for a while, look for supermarkets such as Mercadona, Plus Fresc, and Spar. Lidl is highly sought after by European tourists who crowd it to stock their fridges for their stay.
What to Do in Cambrils with Kids
Rest assured that in Cambrils, you’ll find plenty of activities that will keep both you and your kids entertained. Cambrils is just one and a half hour from Barcelona, one of the other amazing coastal cities in Spain to visit with kids.
