Beaches in Costa Adeje

Costa Adeje is situated 45 minutes by car southwest of the capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Unlike the beaches in the north that consist of black volcanic matter, the Costa Adeje beaches are gray or white sand. These extend for 4 km along almost 30 kms of coast.

Here, the sun shines more than 300 days a year, and summers enjoy an average of 80 degrees Fahrenheit (27 degrees Celsius).

El Duque Beach

This beach in Costa Adeje is located in a very exclusive area, in front of several luxury hotels along its promenade flanked by palm trees. It also boasts some of the best golf clubs on the island.

Well-known high-end stores and gourmet restaurants, together with the Blue Flag Beach designation (2023), attract upscale tourism.

This affluent neighborhood has seen substantial development, leading to the construction of several high-end, luxurious hotels. As a result, prices for everything in this area are on the higher side. Nevertheless, it remains a destination worth experiencing, with a lot of amenities available.

Holding a Blue Flag award, the beach complies with all safety and equipment requirements.

Thanks to its beauty, comfort, accessibility, and prime location in a popular tourist area of southern Tenerife, this beach maintains high occupancy year-round. In high season, you can encounter big crowds.

Easy access is available next to the road. Parking is about 300 meters from the beach.

Siam Park, ranked as the No. 1 Water Park in the World, is an amazing attraction just 10 minutes from El Duque Beach. You can experience a 10 ft high man-made wave and dozens of attractions. Read more and book your entry ticket in advance. There is also a beautiful setting depicting the ancient kingdom of Siam.

Fañabé Beach

Just a 10-minute walk from El Duque Beach, you will find Fañabé. It is also in a highly urbanized area. This nice beach spans 600 meters in length and 40 meters in width, with brown sand.

This beach in Costa Adeje has calm waters, but you should be cautious of rocks in some parts of the beach where the water is not deep. However, don’t worry; there are plenty of safe, rock-free areas where you can easily enter the water.

While this beach is nice, being on a volcanic island means that the dark sand can give the impression of the water being dirty. The prettier beach with clearer water is just a short walk away at Torvicas.

Like most of the beaches in Costa Adeje, it experiences high occupancy in summer and medium-high occupancy the rest of the year. It is a popular destination for foreign tourists during holidays.

Torviscas Beach

Actually, this is an extension of Fañabé. They are separated from each other just by a signboard.

With dark sand, it extends for 290 meters and is 50 meters wide, with dark green-colored waters. Like most beaches in the area, Torviscas and Fañabé feature calm seas since both are protected by a breakwater. It should also be noted that they are located on the less windy side of Tenerife.

This beach in Costa Adeje is fully equipped and has received a Blue Flag award for 2023. There are plenty of bars and restaurants around.

La Pinta Beach

This is a cove that is 40 meters wide, spanning less than 200 meters of golden sand. Thanks to the presence of docks, its calm waters offer a good spot for families with kids.

La Pinta Beach is located next to the popular sports port, Puerto Colon, and the Nautic Club.

The beach is fully equipped, and since it’s in an urban area, you will find a lot of shops, restaurants, and entertainment places all around.

This is a great spot for snorkeling because you can see many fish, and there are also quite a few crabs on the rocks.

There is easy access to La Pinta beach and parking space for more than 100 vehicles.

From Puerto Colon, you can embark on a Dolphin and Whale-Watching Eco-Cruise. Enjoy an all-inclusive catamaran trip with drinks, sandwiches, and the chance to swim at sea, and spot marine life in a conservation area with this highly sought-after tour (3 or 5 hours).

El Bobo Beach

About 1 km from La Pinta, you will find this other beach in Costa Adeje. El Bobo is made of black volcanic sand beach. It’s 50 meters wide and 130 meters long, with moderate waves.

The water is not deep and is calm because it’s an artificial cove. You can swim close to the rocky area and see small fish because the water is clear. There are also rock pools further along.

La Caleta Beach

This is the name of a beautiful fishing town that I strongly recommend you visit if you are in Costa Adeje. It is not only recommended for its wild beauty but also for its delicious seafood cuisine.

La Caleta

The coastline of the town is rocky, with no sandy beaches. You will find stairs that facilitate access to the sea.

Diego Hernández Beach

Close to La Caleta, you will find Diego Hernández, one of the nude beaches in Tenerife. It’s a pretty beach with white sand and calm water. The location is a natural area with vegetation. The beach is 200 meters long and 25 meters wide.

People used to call it the Hippies’ Beach. But in 2020, the authorities took down many illegal buildings and cleaned it up, making it nice again.

The view is amazing, and the sunsets are really special. But because it’s far from everything, there aren’t any services on the beach.

There’s a golf club called Costa Adeje Golf Club not too far from the beach.
